Alderman Lyle improving safety for CPS students
Apr 10, 2010

Alderman Lyle will join Chicago Public School Superintendent Ron Huberman, principals from schools in the 6th ward, local school council officials, and area students in announcing Alderman Lyle's allocation of more than $400,000 in new security systems and improvements to existing security systems for every school in the 6th ward. Money will be used towards new surveillance cameras, digital video recorders, state of the art surveillance wiring, and upgrades to existing security systems.
”Our students have been experiencing an increase in violence in their schools, the one place they should be free from violence. This is unacceptable to me and should be to any principal, teacher, or parent. Although I am confident the safety measures enhanced by this funding will help reduce the violence in our schools, we need to continue to work together to create the safe learning environment our students deserve.” stated Alderman Freddrenna Lyle.
