6th Ward Police Districts

In the 6th Ward, the community, the businesses, the schools, the Churches and the elected officials work with the Chicago Police Department as active partners. Creating and maintaining a safe community is the responsibility of each of us and no single department, agency or person can do this alone. We need you and your neighbors and your children and the neighbors on the next block, to join us in the battle against those who wish to destroy our way of life.

The 6th Ward is covered by several Police Districts. The 3rd District which is led by Commander John Franklin, covers Park Manor to 75th St. The 5th District, led by Commander Sydney Kelly covers Roseland Heights. The 6th District, led by Commander John Doty covers Park Manor south of 75th, Chatham, Chesterfield, and West Chesterfield. The 7th District which covers all of Englewood is led by Commander Joseph Patterson.

CAPS

The partnership between police and community is the foundation of Chicago's own philosophy of community policing, known as CAPS -- the Chicago Alternative Policing Strategy.

Each block in the City is assigned a Police Beat. Each month that Beat holds a meeting, at which you can meet the Police Officers that work to protect your community. Find out when your Beat meets by calling 311 and giving the operator your address. Go out to your local Beat meeting and meet neighbors like yourself that are actively involved in working with the Police to protect the safety of your community.
